In my honest opinion, pound for pound the longest, most forgiving iron heads on the planet are Wishon 770CFE's. Hot faced (yes, hot faced irons), cavity back, sole weighted. So they hit farther and higher.

Now, don't get me wrong. The OEMS (TM in particular) are approaching current 4 iron lofts with their new 5 irons - so that you can have the longest 5 iron of all your golfing buddies! What they don't tell you is that now your 4 iron is as 'easy to hit' as your current 3 iron, and the new TM 3 iron is closer to a strong 2 iron. Enjoy hitting that. The kicker is that after this 'round' of increasing lofts across the board, the next time it happens we may be looking at a wedge to fill the gap between your 52° gap wedge and your 44° PW. A gap-gap wedge? A "this used to be a 9 iron back in the early 80's" wedge?

It's gotta stop somewhere - I'm just afraid to see how far we have to go first.

Actually my Ping i5's are stronger lofted that the R7tp's. My i5 PW is 46Deg. The R7TP is 47Deg. All the irons through the set are .5 to 1 degree weaker than my i5's. I just like the feel and look at address of the R7TP's. Forgiving yet very workable.

As far as I'm concerned, if you like the look and feel of the irons in your hands, play them.
