  • Swing discussion needed

In an effort to liven up the forum just a bit with technical opinions but wanting to avoid the analysis paralysis that we sometimes find ourselves in, here's a few questions:
    1. Backswing: How much to the inside? Upright posture at address will automatically cause a more inside takeaway but a shorter person risks an over the top if he tries it. If one can insure he can always get into the slot, is there anything wrong with taking the club purposefully a little inside?
    2. Downswing: Many schools of thought about swinging from the slot such as hands lead hips, hips lead hands behind, swing through from the slot from the ground up meaning feet start and hands are last to finish.
    3. What is the simplest and best way to achieve more distance with the driver off the tee:
    a. delayed release
    b. pivot more on backswing
    c. purposefully release the forearms at impact
    d. __________________________________

    mtibt,

    1. I see many beginners turn there upper body purposely to the inside. The weight shift to the right side is more of the turn to the insode than the upper body. If you can picture a carnival ride where the upper part of the ride spins in a circle around a fixed point and the bottom moves the circle back and forth. The circular motion doesn't change direction but the base changing direction makes the circle move. Just a mental picture.

    2. The knees changing directions from the backswing to through swing, changes the hips which changes the shoulders around a plane the head and neck on a fixed point. Just a discussion point.

    3. Moving everything forward from the ground up.
