  • Pros flogging junk !

This of course is only my opinion, I find it quite incredible at the amount of golf related junk ( for want of a better word ) that big name pros are flogging on television. The latest being two pieces of board with synthetic turf that Singh is pushing, " only " $ 200.00 plus the dreaded " shipping and handling " plus taxes, should arrive at your door for the low low price of $ 250.00.
Then of course there is O'Meara with his hinged club that whacks you on the back of the head if you swing it wrong. What is it with these guys, are they that hard up that they will endorse anything for a buck. Gimmicks to " improve your golf " utter rubbish, if you want to improve your golf find a good teaching pro, learn good fundamentals then work your buns off on the practice range.
If Singh, O'Meara and the rest of them that are flogging this **** to the masses need to fill their respective bank accounts do it on the golf course. That's all they have to do in life, hit golf balls,,,,,,must be nice !

I fully agree, is this simply greed.

I noticed Sam Torrence & Tony Jacklin, have been jointly endorsing a new WONDER !! Driver claiming, on Setantas teleshopping channel this club could enhance your driving distance by 50 yrds. Absolute rubbish, if it was that good the club wouldnt need advertising.

    So therefore Pros.
take a couple of integrity pills, and give the people who put you where you are today a little bit of respect.

Not all this stuff is ****, the medicuse is actually not a bad idea. If your hitting yourself in the head, just go ahead and quit now, you are WAY to uncoordinated to play this game. Weighted clubs in their various incarnations are a good idea. Hinged type gloves, for either hand, seem to help drive home the point of what your hands or wrist need to do. But to answer your question, it is not really the Pro's, it is there accountants. Most of the time the people selling this stuff own part of the company, because their accountant got them in it. So they can either help, or watch their investment die a slow death. AAHHH capitalism at it's best...lol

I'd argue that in some cases, a pro endorses it because it works.

Like GoNavy, the Medicus is actually an interesting device - if you 'break it' throughout your swing, but correct the flaw, you can still hit balls with it (I know I have!)

I find Greg Norman's Secret to be quite helpful when I forget everything I've learned and start flipping at the ball again.

And I don't mind doing slo-mo drills with my weighted 7 iron either - just feeling the swing.

But some of the gizmos out there are designed like the driver I've been discussing on another forum: When you hit it right, it's the longest thing you'll ever hit. However, if you don't hit it perfectly, it won't spin enough and will simply fall out of the sky. What good is anything if you have to use it perfectly for it to work properly?
