Golf Rules for fairways

Hello Guys. Got a rules question that I can't find the answer to.
I recently reached a par 4 in one shot. My golfing Buddies said that I am not entitled to mark it as a fairway hit. (we gamble on our stats). They said that this is the PGA rule. I don't agree. Hitting the green in one is like a fairway to me. Am I wrong?

I would agree with you Clint.

Although I am not aware of any official PGA rules on the matter. I would like to think hitting a green in one on a par 4 is the same as hitting the fairway. I am pretty sure hitting the green on a par 3 is similar to a 'fairway hit' so why wouldn't hitting the green on a par 4.
