    Re: Equity rules

But how can you tell if the snake is really dead or merely sleeping? Moreover, what if it's venomous? I've heard of a few players that were actually bitten on the course.

Conceivably, you could be searching for your ball in the rough and not even see the animal (and not just a snake, whatever dangerous beast) until it's too late!

Yes, see decision 25-2/2.5. Plenty of them in the book.

The Townsville Golf Club in Far North Queensland (Australia) recently had a few crocodiles move in to some of thier water hazards. The club generously made a local rule allowing for a free drop should your ball be unplayable because of the croc hazard. I think that's pretty fair

I know, they should just play it where it lies . But just add a bloody great big knife to their bag ... "That's not a knife ...."

              That's outrageous!
Surely golfers can protect themselves? Simply jamb a club into their mouths! Remember the 14 club rule though.

John Daly used to be considered a "dangerous animal"......

Didn't see anyone taking relief when playing with or near him...
