Yesterday while I had a few spare moments on the greens, I placed the flagstick down and practised my putting stroke using the flagstick as a guide. Of course I didn't hit any golf balls. My Dad told me it was against the rules. Is he right ??

As long as you did not touch the line of putt with the flagstick and removed it before you made a stroke you are ok.
Ask your Dad what Rule he reckons you were breaking.

I didn't think I was breaking the rules.
I placed the flagstick well away from my ball, most of the time at the other side of the green. I found it a good way to keep everything square.Comment
