  • Hello from Duham UK

Just joined this site today as I am still searching for that simple repetetive swing that will take me form a 14 handicapper to single figures which I want to achieve as my ultimate personal goal. Two weks ago I went out and hit a gross 77, (10 pars and 2 birdies) like the majority of high handicappers could not wait untill my next game!! Guess what I couldn't get a par for love nor money.
I overswing a bit, but when I shorten my swing to what I think is a 3/4 swing (companions tell me it is still a full swing) I loss the essencial timing and again there is no consistency.
To top it all there is now a list of drivers on the notice board in the clubhouse stating all golfers will be disqualified if they win using an illegal driver! My Cobra is on the list so I have had to buy a legal driver so I'll be spending the next few weeks trying to accumalate "browny points".
I wonder if my new legal driver will come fitted with wireless Sat Nav and negotiate the fairways better than my Cobra!

          Re: Hello from Duham UK

I am a member of Durham City golf club and I must say it is one of the loveliest settings you can imagine, next to the river wear which flows out to sea at Sunderland. The only problem is the fact that the river comes into play on the 3rd, 4th and 6th holes and it becomes strongly magnetic during golf competitions.

Johnlan - welcome to the site.

I don't think you are alone in looking for consistency. If you are capable of hitting a 77 you obviously have talent and I'm sure it won't be long before you're able to find consistency.

Welcome Johnlan. I`m from Ireland but I visited Durham last week. It is one of the nicest cities in the UK. Absolute gem.

I've played Durham City 5 or 6 times and love it, really nice course. Last played there May last year in an open comp, the rough was very punishing, even 3 or 4 yards off the fairway.

                1st time I played there I had a 2 on the par 5 1st, holed a 4 iron. My 1 and only albatross.
