  • Hi, from the home of golf!

    Hello from Scotland!

Ive only been playing golf seriously (if thats possible) for the last year. Ive deffo been bitten by the bug and just joined a club this past week. So will hopefully be getting an official handicap in the near future.

I look forward to gaining some valuable advice from this site and hopefully I can contribute a few things from my experiences along the way!

    Cheers
    Spiffo.

          Heya Bill,

Well the new holes are not in play yet. But yes all the holes past 12 are moving to a new bit of land which should be ready later this year. So you will no longer need hiking boots to play 13-18. PHEW! Ive only just joined so not had to deal with the mountain goat holes for very long!

They have done some good things at Swanston and pumped a lot of money into the place: new clubhouse, new 9 hole short/beginner course, short game practice, driving range and putting course. Im looking forward to the summer season (if we actually get one).

Ah I notice your a Castle Park member, Ive played there a few times, love the back 9! One of my regular golfing buddies just joined there this year. Hole 1 is not for the faint hearted either!

            hi
use to play Dunbar east but stopped playing for about 3 1/2 years and when i went back i though I'd try an inland course for a change.
            my second year at castlepark.
i do love the back 9 holes the have planted 2500 trees over the winter on the front 9 mostly around 4,5 and 6 and most of the trees you see on the back 9 were planted in the last 10 years or so when it was only the 9 holes.
the first over the lake means you need to carry 220/230 yards and it being uphill makes it longer than it looks.
the par 3 11th is some hole the one over the small lake and then a clime up about 60 feet.
i have passed your new club house and it does look good as do the new holes.
i do go up there and play and thought about joining but i liked Castlepark better and its about the same distance away.
the guys on her are really great. if you have any problems just ask there are so many on here happy to help.
            cheers
