  • Hello, I'm new here.

From the UK.... It's been a rough winter one way and another, illness in the family, funerals, bad weather and other maladies - but today the sun is shining, my wife is out to lunch with friends and my clubs are shiny and ready to go.
Already I've read a lot of common sense on this site and look forward to seeing more.
I'm retired from work, due mainly to falling apart at the seams, my avatar says it all - was once considered a Grizzly, now more of a Winnie-the-Pooh ! Have 2 sons, both now away from home and both very good golfers, a wife who golfs, and 2 labradors very keen to golf, but the cat shows no interest whatsoever in golf !

Good to be here and looking forward to the arrival of Spring.

    Best wishes,
    Xtyke.

      Re: Hello, I'm new here.

Hello Bill and thank you for the welcome. I've just had a quick look through, to find my way around and see lots to take my interest - but I've two dogs here, starving and demanding to be fed..... as they are often, being labradors.
So time for a little something.

      Cheers for now,
      xtyke.

        Hi and Welcome.

I hope you enjoy the site and company here. Please feel free to join in or post questions.

I have a bored looking English Springer Spaniel that is hoping for a last walk, she is not so keen on golf but loves running off with my golf balls when I am practising putting on the lounge carpet.

          Hello, I'm new here.

From US - Found the site by googling for home made Whippy Tempo Master and it returned a thread on your site/forum, and joined so I can read the thread. Built my swing mainly via the Bertholy Method and now mostly interested in the mental game and the Art of Playing. May poke around some...seems like an interesting place

            Hello Brian,

            Speaking of dogs -

Yesterday I was sorting through my buckets of balls, in order that I could pass them on to the Junior section for practice. Hundreds of the things picked up or cast off over the years, and I found some good enough still to be in my play, which had been chucked into the wrong buckets. I put those into a box to be cleaned later, together with a very old, unmarked 'Dunlop' small ball, which I remembered finding under a gorse bush, when No.1 Son was playing in his first County match at one of our older courses. Worth keeping just for the memories if for no other reason.

Finished cleaning the balls, but couldn't remember doing the Dunlop. Bedtime came and got a call from my wife...... Young dog, the chocolate lab., after climbing aboard his bed had started to rummage beneath for one of his treasures and my wife saw unidentifiable bits of white 'stuff' scattered thereunder.
The only ball he had selected and has ever (so far) chewed, was the ancient Dunlop. Still, we have the memories, but hope that the ball wasn't worth the price of the new conservatory we hope for!!

            Cheers,
            xtyke.
