Re: Howdy-New Guy
Hi ramac,
Welcome to the forum, i think you will enjoy the friendly dialogue here.
Regarding the spine angle drill, here's one you can do indoors, using the door jamb (or arched wall opening) or a chair back, with or without a club (gripping a wedge halfway down the shaft). At the range, you could tomahawk the head of an iron club into the ground so the shaft is on an angle, so you could use the grip end to back into, instead of the jamb or chair back.
As you make the backswing, your rear end (right cheek for righties) should stay in contact with the jamb, chair back or club. If your rear end loses contact, your spine angle has changed, either from standing up or falling forward. If you feel yourself pushing back on the jamb, chair or club, you are leaning back.
On the downswing, your rear end (now left cheek) should maintain contact with the jamb, chair or club.
You could use the door jamb to also check if your head is moving up or down, either on the backswing or downswing, by making swings with your forehead against one of the jambs
