  • Overswinging

    Hi,

I'm perform a perfect back-swing WITHOUT a ball, but can't realize the same thing WITH the ball. How can I change my mindset, or have you got other tips and tricks. Thanx!

    Re: Overswinging

Power does not translate directly to the distance you take the club back, it is related to the strength of the release INTO impact.

Understanding this will help you stay compact in your takeaway, and feel free the regulate power.

I always try to feel relaxed in the setup and at the top even though I am planning on some % of power into impact.

In cases of 1/2. 3/4 swings for special swings (knockdowns, punches...) you regulate the back swing, but you can still have a % of impact power in mind.

    So, to practice this:
    * Hit a shot that is 50% power with a full swing. See where this goes, what was the trajectory, how did you feel in control...

    * Hit a 1/2 swing with 100% power. Same evaluation.

    * Hit 70%, 80% and 90% full swings. Learn the differences in how they feel. When you can control this level of power into impact, you will be on your way. You may have to start out with just 50, 75 and 100%. Then use this to help you later.
