    Hi BIG,

You have a great location there on the Monterey.

    Call me envious,

      Hello Envious! lol

I will be heading to Mississippi in June. Stopping along the way for a couple weeks in Phoenix, my home state. Gonna be some great golf for me this summer!

          Re: Hello from Monterey, CA

That's a good idea! lol Well let's see....

I have been playing for umpteen years (1996 I think is when I started).... It wasn't even until this year that I started buying new equipment (took about a 5yr hiatis due to being in the Navy).

I just started tracking my handicap. I am about a 16 with an average game of 100. I used to have a slice on my driver, but fixed that this year with some lessons. Been getting better at my chip and sand bunker work. Next lesson is putting.

Since getting the driver straightened out I have lost my iron touch. Got to go back to the begining with those. I am taking a less steep swing with my driver, which I believe has bled into my irons.

So, in my bag is the following:
Cobra LD F Speed 9.5 degree driver with stiff flex shaft
Cobra Baffler DWS 2 and 3 hybrids with stiff flex
about to upgrade my irons (looking at Mizuno MP-52's)
          Cleveland CG-14 47, 56, 60 Degree wedges
          Odessy Teron Putter

Everything but my irons are new.

            Thanks for the background.

Remember that with your irons your hands must lead the clubface at impact and you should work to hit the ball then the ground in front of the ball so that you create a divot.

When I was slicing my driver, my hips led and my plane was too steep. Now my hips lead just a hair less and the plane is a lot more level. At that time I was using my 2i for me tee shots with dependable 220yrd drives.

Now I am shanking, chunking, topping, and hooking my irons. If it was one thing, then ok...but all of these at once? lol

                Hi LIG,

Don't know enough about your swing to make judgement, but you might already know if you still have an over the top problem. It seems you had a touch of that before, which you're gradually getting away from. You could jury-rig a check, by planting a stick into the ground perpendicular to the target line and at an angle, so it overhang the ball by a few inches. If you come over the top you will hit the stick. You can place the stick ahead of, or back of the ball location to check if you're coming in on plane and shallow from the inside, or out to in.
