Been playing for about four years here in Maryland. My issues are probably the same as everyone else - trying to develop a consistent swing. I'm working primarily on hitting down on the ball and it's starting to get better. Any suggestions in this area?

    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,

You are right. We should all be working to be more consistent.

Regarding hitting down, there is the old standby. Put a head cover a few inches behind the ball. This will have you coming down on an sharper angle and hitting the ball first. You can do this off the mats, but if you do it on grass, you will see nice divots being taken. In order to miss the head cover, you will notice that you have to retain the lag, so this resolves a lot of the casting issues as well.

Another one is to put all your weight on the front leg, with the back foot pulled back of the target line and balanced on the toe, then take swings. This will also give you the feeling of the upper body covering (not falling back but still behind) the ball for the strike and a more descending blow

    Have fun,

    Ted.
