  • Coming from cavity backs to blades

I've recently bought a set of old, (10 yrs i think) cobra bafflers. I used to hit the cavity back irons just fine but needed more workability so decided to get these, as they were a bargain. However, my sweet spot shot rate is down, and I'm having trouble with distance. Have I sacrificed distance for workability? I like the cobras alot more but as mentioned, miss hits are not forgiving. I heard that a 3/4 backswing will help my consistency but have yet to try it. The sweet spot seems to be all that matters with blades. Is this true?

    Hi bmoz,

What you are experiencing is what it is. The blades are not as forgiving and on mishits, you will suffer loss of distance and dispersion.

Many pros play R7's and such semi cavity type clubs, or at least for the long irons.

You can work those cavity backs. I do all the time.
