  • Stack and tilt driver ball position

Can anyone help me out on driver ball position in the stack and tilt. I changed to it this season and my irons have never been better, crisp and clean with great flight. I used to keep driver ball position just inside my left heel about one inch. I have been hitting the driver all over the place, left one time and right the next. I usually tee it about one half ball width above the top of the driver to catch it on the upswing.

    Thanks.

    Hi Glenn,

There have been some interesting discussions on the difficulty of playing the driver with S & T. It seem that most mortals have a problem, whereas the pros seem to do OK. I believe Weir used a hybrid swing with his driver when he was doing S & T. You can do a search on S& T or Stack and Tilt to find those discussions. as they could provide other members' experiences and thoughts.

As for Baddely, Wie (Charlie), Axley, Armour 111, and the other great strikers practicing S & T, there are some really good Swing Vision videos on you tube showing how they do it.

Thanks for the quick response. I have looked at several youtube videos and they have been somewhat helpful. I really think that the success you have in increasing iron consisteny with stack and tilt is all related to minimizing the amount of movement in your swing. I just don't feel that the swing has a long enough bottom position to be able to hit the driver the best.

The guys I mentioned have great efficient looking swings. I love to watch them in tournament play. Although I have not stuck with S & T, I studied it extensively and played part of a season with it. I did not have a particular problem with the driver, although I seemed to hit the shots much lower than usual. That is not all bad, as I had my fellow golfers remarking "man (or something like that), the ball is still running", and a few seconds later in louder voice - "the ****** ball is still running".
