  • Back from Hiatus - After Surgery (Very Frustrating)

Hi guys. It has been very frustrating for the last 2 years. About 4 years ago, I finally decided to take some serious lessons. I had never taken lessons. Basically, I had so many bad habits that it took a long time to knock them out one by one. Around 2008, I was finally getting the hang of it and I was getting excited as I was seeing results and then I started having the "Golfers Elbow" issue towards the end of the season. (Medial Epicondilitis on my right elbow, I am right handed).

I hardly played in 2009. May be 2 rounds. Couldn't complete any rounds. Around the 12th hole, the tendon in my right forearm would start hurting and that would be the end of it.

I had all kinds of treatments in 2009 to no avail. The doctors did the Cortisone shot (3 separate times) and then there was this other treatment called the enriched blood procedure where they take about a test tube of blood from your body, separate the platelets and inject the platelets directly into your tendon to help in speeding the healing process. Finally, I had to have surgery which I did in November last year. There was basically a hole in my tendon and quite a bit of bone spur that the doctor had to clean up. The scar I ended up with, was about 1.25" long.

The recovery was very painful. For three months, I couldn't use my right hand for any major stuff.

I played my first round of golf last weekend and I am so happy to say that for the first time in 2 years, I could complete the full 18 holes without any pain in my right elbow. The rest of my body was sore BUT my elbow didn't hurt.. I was so excited. I can finally play again which I thought would never be possible.

I am looking forward to visiting this forum more often and learning and sharing my experiences from the wealth of knowledge over here.

Current Club Set-up. Changed most of my set-up this year.

Driver - Taylormade Burner, 10.5deg, Stiff

Bought this at the end of the 2008 season. Haven't played much with it but whatever little I have played, this driver has not disappointed me so far.

    Woods
Ping G5, 3 Wood, 13 deg, Stiff Shaft
Ping G5, 5 Wood, Regular Shaft

Irons - Hogan Apex FTX Forged = 3 - PW

Bought these earlier this year. I love the feel of these clubs. Less forgiving but the solid shots are so crisp it is a thing of beauty. I was using Ping G2's for the past 4-5 years.

    Wedges
Just bought them after my first round this year and I am looking forward to playing with them
    Vokey Spin Milled - 52.08
    Vokey Spin Milled - 56.14
    Vokey Spin Milled - 60.04

Putter - Odyssey White Hot Rossie

Bought this in 2008 and I really love the feel.

Welcome to GTO; I hope 201 proves a lot better than previous years.
