I would think that f=ma. You have more mass now. The question is can you accelerate it consistently.

I would suspect that the extra weight is forcing you to engage larger, more powerful muscles to generate the "same" swing - allowing you to effectively swing faster.
Or it could be that you're now doing something in your swing that's allowing more efficient movement allowing more energy to be available for speed.
Video of the two driver swings would help.
