  • New guy from Calif

Hello all. I was online looking for some info on stiff shafts versus standard shafts and the next thing you know I ended up here. Based on what I've seen so far from various sources, it seems that probably 90+ % of golfers should be using the standard shafts, probably closer to 99% of old fart golfers like me.

As for me, I used to golf somewhat regularly back in my college days and then again back in the mid to late eighties/ early nineties.

After a long layoff, I'm looking to get back into it. I pulled out my tweny something year old set of clubs I inherited from my dad and am considering getting a new set of clubs. It appears the technology has advanced quite a bit since I last played.

My biggest challenge is seeing about getting back into the swing of things which hopefully won't be too difficult with my stiff 50 something year old body. I'm in fairly decent shape for my age. I swim laps at the community pool, but nevertheless, my back at times is so stiff it feels like rigor mortis.
I am hoping that I can loosen things up a bit. I guess time will tell.

Anyway, that's me. So hello to you all. This looks like a pretty cool site with a lot of useful info. I am grateful already.

    Welcome

    Welcome to the forum.

Yes I play with many golfers with stiff shafts that I believe they shouldn't be. They have convinced themselves that they have a strong enough, powerful swing that they need them.

Feel free to ask any questions about the golf swing and reply to any threads you feel you can contribute to.

    All the best.
