Hi, new here and glad to make your acquaintance. After reading quite a few forum posts from using the G god thought I should join as it seems like a pretty cool community.
Me you ask, life was going so good that I thought why not take up golf again just to make me sore, frustrated and broke.
I used to play many years ago, from a very young age and had my golf career all planned out, then coming home from a part time job that paid for the habit I had a car accident, my dad was driving.
That was the end of swinging a club for pretty much two years, when I finally started again there was still quite some pain and the swing was; well different.
The worst injury was to come, although I was not hitting balls anywhere near as well as I did before the accident the biggest issue was I started choking. Going from a confidence that could not be shaken, and a knowledge of striding onto the tea was going to see me put the little white ball wherever I wanted had been replaced, by sheer nerves and tension.
I gave it away, & life moved on although I carried a chip on my shoulder the size of a fairway bunker for years after. Now at the tender going stiff age of 37 I have taken up the game again.
It is my first week back and already about to buy my second set of clubs due to an emotional purchase that I now regret, causing me to buy a second set based on what I like.
Around the green I am not too shabby if I do say so myself considering it has been over 15 years since hitting a ball although on the driving range is a whole new story of toe hitting frustration.
Come with me on sea saw ride of emotion, calluses and hopefully the ability to play a round using only one ball.
