  • Oh well....it was worth a try.

I signed up yesterday in the hopes of discussing some real issues that I am having with my swing. I thought that a bunch of like-minded enthusiasts for the game of golf would be a great place to exchange some ideas. Sadly, I don't see where that's really the case. I've seen a few really good posts, but if I have to navigate all the self-serving, egotistical and demeaning posts to get to something of substance.....I just don't have that kind of time.

Maybe you should have explained the issues first and made a decision on the site by the kind help you received. As Greg said "It's a free site" If you think you can improve the way it works we would welcome your efforts.

Free meaning "nothing good is for free"? or Free meaning because it's free there are a lot of crummy posters here? I'm okay with paying for things. I just happened across this community and thought "Hey....cool. People like me just wanting to get better and sharing what they have learned with each other. A co-op so to speak. And yeah....that should be free. If you meant crummy posters, well.......look no further than yourself. Terms like. "You will never improve" is a statement that needs far more data than I provided for you to come to that conclusion. I was only stating a tendency (to re-grip) in the hopes of a tip that might help me develop a way to change. You made it sould like I was averse to change. And then "it's a free site". C'mon! Sadly....you're not the only one. I searched tags on all sorts of things and found all sorts of degrading comments when people are just reaching out for a little help. I'm glad you guys are real good golfers. I would like to be. But I think a lot of you may have forgotten how frustrating it is to go to the range one day and hit 'em lights out and then go back the next and it's a shankfest. Remember when you sucked!? You needed some good advise and you probably got some. Now the rest of us need some. And is there really nothing left for you to learn? Are all you self-serving posters on tour making a living at what you're so friggen conceited about?? And if you are......"Wow".

I actually got some pretty good advice form you Brian that I will try to work on. Certainly, you were not amongst the unhelpful. I plainly stated what was happening and you plainly gave me suggestion. It's other responses and other comments that raised the concern. I think it "works" great. Forums all over are structured like this. I was just taken aback at comments that seemed more designed to insult than to help.

Interesting reply SandCC. So I went back to my last comment to you...

            -----------------------------------
"Your current comfort in the hands are a manifestation of countering something that is wrong in your swing. The hands are the easiest thing to change and get immediate results.

You will never improve past your current level. You have to get back to basics and start from a good swing, then let the rest fall into place. Improvement will then have room."
            ------------------------------------

My comment "You will never improve..." was not at all meant as a statement to say that YOU actually will never improve. I was saying that if one only changes the grip to counter a swing flaw, that improvement is impossible past the swing flawed level.

So please accept my apologies for saying anything specific to you. I was speaking in general terms and that was all. I gave you advice in the first part of that post on how to actually help feel a proper grip through the swing. Having no idea at all what else your issues are, this was something simply to try.

The comment I made about the site being free, is that the site is free for anyone to use, public blogs...prepare for anything.

Arny660 is right.....I just need to chill out. In the end, it really is just a game. I'm sorry I took the general statement personally. It's really not as big a deal as I made it. I just need to be of the mind-set that a reply is either going to be helpful or its not and quit taking it personally. Thanks for trying to help. My bad.
