  • Long time golfer, first time poster

Hey everyone! I have been playing for 17 years, off and on. I have always been battling a push slice with my drivers. I have been searching for three years for a new driver, playing the FT-5 draw, and the Callaway 460. Neither are helping, but I have only had a few rounds with both. My irons are short for what I think I should be hitting them. I have been concentrating on hip turn this off season as well as flexibility, hoping that will help. I am about to embark on my first club regrip this weekend, so the club making forum will be my reading for the weekend. Looking forward to alot of great reading, and some incites into the problems I have.

Your push slice will be caused by the clubface being open at impact, this will create the push as the ball takes off in the direction of the clubface. The slice will be caused by you cutting across the ball with an out to in swingpath.

To correct it you should try a slightly stronger grip to help to square the clubface and work on hitting on a more in-to-out swingpath so that the ball will make a draw shape. I know it sounds counter to your instincts but you need to feel you are swinging more towards the right.

Thanks for the reinforcment. I have been working on the stronger grip in the off season, along with larger grips, I think that I might have that licked, I will find out later this week. The out to in swing path is another story, goes against evey thing in my body. I know from my baseball days that it is what I should be doing, but my mind just wont let me do it.
