This is such an awesome forum. Answered so many of my questions. I started golf around 4 years ago with a starter Wilson set. Took a break for about 2 years and started back again this year. I score in the 90's now (Mid to upper). I finally placed an order for some real clubs. The Ping G2's. I tried the demo set and they work great.
When the Ping rep was custom fitting me, I found out that I needed a 2* upright (green dot) type club for my swing. He said that, this probably explains the fades with my long irons. He also recommended me with a regular type shaft (Swing speed 90 mph)
I have never used a driver yet. I just can't seem to hit them consistently until today. I always drive with my 3 wood (some cheap Dunlop fairway wood). Get about 230 yards and I am consistent with it. The loft angle on my three wood is 16*.
I finally tried a driver that had a loft angle of 15.5* (Ping G2, stiff shaft). Didn't even know that they made those. I couldn't believe it. I hit a whole bucket of balls and besides the first three shots to get the ball lined up, I hit every drive over 250 yards. Didn't miss hit the ball even once. Some were fades and some were draws (I don't know how to do this at will yet)
I am so excited now, to go back and play some rounds of golf to use this new driver. Anyone have any experiences with high loft drivers. My swing speed is about 85-95 mph but for some reason with a conventional driver I cannot get the loft I need. Seem to be hitting a low grounder. No, I haven't taken any lessons yet. Read a lot of books on golf and get info on-line.
Golf is such a wonderful game. I just love it. You can always improve and that's what takes me back to the golf courses.
Recommendations or advices are welcome.
