  • 50+ Beginner

Hi I am a 50+ Male right hand 5 feet 7 inch beginner.

    Only get about 150-160M with a 5 wood,130-140M with a 5 iron.Mainly starts out going straight then vears right.(A slice I believe)

    My question.
As there are many things involved with the golf swing.
Squaring club face to ball.shoulders hips parallel.Distance from the ball at address.Grip, take away, plane of backswing, wrist angle etc etc.
Trying to remember to do all things correctly as a beginner I find imposible.
In order of importance what are the things I should concentrate on.
    a) to keep the ball going straight
    b) increase distance.

    Any advise would be appreciated

Welcome to GTO! I'm new to the game myself and was frustrated by all the "things" to remember in the 1.5 sec of swing. I've tried to get down to about three and relax. My three are grip, keep it loose; tempo, don't KILL THE BALL; swing through the ball, not at the ball.
Find a copy of "Harvery Pinick's Little Red Book". Its a great read and has a ton of wisdom.
And of course, think about some lessons, if you can afford them.

      Hi John
For some folks their swing is the biggest problem. But, it also helps greatly to have equipment that is fitted to your body and swing speed. In other words, have clubs that are adjusted to you rather than you have to constantly adjust to your clubs.
