    Hi,
My name is John (new member) and I am 69 yrs old with a handicap of 17. I used to be 11 and it is my ambition to get back there this Summer. Hence I am looking for all the help I can get. I have developed a fade (not slice) in my drives and have been unable, so far to eliminate it.

    Welcome.

Assuming the fade is consistent why not live with it?

      Because :
      1. It loses distance
      2. I don't like aiming left and having to judge amount of fade.
      3. It looks better if its straight

One thing that might be causing it is in your desire to gain more distance on your drives. You might be out swinging your arms and hands from your body. Slow the arms and hands down a touch. This seems counterintutive, but timming is everything. Get that back and then you can slowly increase the speed together (upper and lower together).

Its all a matter of opinion I guess:

          1. The guy who won the Phoenix Open was hitting the ball a country mile and he played a fade. What are we talking about distance wise 15, 20 yards?

          2. Aiming down the left and fading takes the trouble on the right out of the equation. If its a consistent fade it shouldn't take much judging.

          3. Possibly. I have an inconsistent BIG fade (ok its a slice waiting to happen ] but I'd have thought a controlled, repeatable fade would look just fine from where I was teeing off.
