Hey, I'm 46 and a once a week 9 hole golfer in a league. On a good week I might get out and play 18 on a weekend. I've never had any illusions about becomming good at it with only that much time alotted to golf. How ever I always got by with in our group and could hold my own with most. This year how ever I have suddenly started pulling every thing dead left and I have never done that the ball even some times hooks on top of the pull. This is completely a new problem as my problem was always an occasional slice or a push down the right side so the other side of the course is completely a new issue. If I try to slow down my swing it results in the opposite action of a push to the far right and a slice. I've been told I'm comming over the top with my swing resulting in the pull but have no idea what that means or what type of drill I might be able to use to try and correct it enough to at least keep it out of the woods! Suggestions?

First You Have To Check You Grip Is Strong? Is Neutral?
Is Diferent From The One You Used To Use?
Second Is You Stance Anyting Diferent From Before?

Re: Hi from Iowa
hi.
Firstly: a slice and a pull hook are a result of the SAME swing fault. The only difference between the two is the position of the club head at impact.
It seems to me you are comming over the top at the start of the downswing, now, if you do this and the clubface is open at impact you will get a slice and if the clubface is closed you will get a pull hook.
Try this wall drill: Stand a couple of inches from a wall with your back to it, take your normal set up ( dont touch the wall with your butt ) now slowly take a back swing . If you cant get to the top of your backswing without hitting the wall then your swing is too flat..keep repeating this drill until you can swing to the top without touching the wall.
Now take your normal settup and try to recapture the feeling of the wall drill and take a few pracitice swings..Your backswing should now be more on plane....
When you start your downswing try to keep your back to the target, this will eliminate throwing your right shoulder at the ball and keep you on plane through the downswing............
hope this is of help.........Regards.....Terry
