  • help a hooker

apologies to all if im posting in the wrong place[new to this]here goes anyway. I play off 8 and usually drive long with a slight draw. For 3 months or so ive been hitting a low pull hook off the tee and also with fairway woods. Not sure if its connected but i sometimes block/push irons, particularly off the tee. can anyone help?

David, I would help a "hooker" any time! Maybe you are hitting it too much in to out? When this happens me, I try to concentrate on a straight along the line takeaway which helps to keep the club square from takeaway to impact

A low pull hook comes from a swing path that is out-to-in with a square club face will be a straight pull. If you close the club face it'l be a pull hook.

Focus on getting your shoulders pointing slightly to the right just before impact and let them follow the club through impact and into your finish. Try first with some slower swings until you get the hang of it and then go harder and then hit golf balls using the drill.

If your ball flight turns into a push or push slice you need to get the club face to close but adjustingthe right hand involvement. I often see thatthe shoulder adjustment does affect the release for some reason. Although the adjustment has nothing to do with the club face angle, it does happen.
