  • hitting my driver

I need advice about hitting my driver. I seem to get to much air and lose alot of distance. Sometimes I hit the ball higher with my driver than my sand wedge.

    Hi hacker.

Iwould think you have a few issues here. Firstly, are you placing the ball off your left heel? This will encourage a full wide swing which in turn should give good distance. Secondly, if your grip is too strong this will only encourage a strike with too much height rather than distance and direction. Hope this helps

Whats the loft on your driver and what distance are you hitting it?

I'll take it as your hitting it stright. It sounds as if you swing is to steep. Unlike the wedge shot you have to sweep the ball with the driver. Play it up in your stance. get your spine tilt, swing a wide arc and hit it. good luck..

What is probably happening is that your left wrist is breaking down on the foward swing. When this happens, you are lofting the club - severely. At the point of contact with the ball your left wrist should be flat and your your clubshaft in line with your left arm. This can often happen from a lack of rotation. In a sense the body stops and club head keeps going forcing the left wrist to breakdown. Hope this helps.
