  • keeping the chin out of the way

    Hi everybody,
During my back swing and forward swing , my chinn gets in the way of my shoulders/chest. I try to keep it as high as I can at address. Will be grateful for any suggestions to get over this problem.
    Thanks,

I've also had this problem in the past, but, recently I read an article in golf digest(I think) about keeping your eyes on the ball. It said it's alright for the head to turn slightly with your shoulder on the backswing as long as your eyes stay glued to the ball. Don't know if this helps but it keeps me from craning my neck so my chin clears my left shoulder.

If your talking about your "chin", this is not quite what you want. What really need to get out of the way are your shoulders. Do this by creating a better spine angle. Your shoulders will rotate about them on a 90 degree (perpenticular) plane, so where your spine is, this will dictate that angle.

Setup with your rear-end out more, your back straight and your tummy in. Flex the knees slightly and let your torso keep a firm base for the shoulders to rotate about the spine. You shouldn't have to worry about the chin anymore.

        hi
was just looking at leadbetters intreactive to see what he says about it and he said same at greg, poor spine angle or chin droping, he then tells you a few drills to get you posture right.

Butch harmon coaches adam scott and all his other players to keep there chin as high as possible!

Wach Adam scott and you will notice he is always lifting his chin up abit.

As a guy with a short neck I don't think I could lift my chin high enough. lol.

In all seriousness though, I'm not talking about turning the head at a 45 degree angle or anything that drastic. I get just a minor head turn caused by how much my shoulders actually turn during the backswing. Using my chin as a reference, I'm only talking about it moving a couple inches back during the backswing. With my shoulders turning almost 90 degrees during backswing, it is almost impossible to keep my head completely straight.

              Hi everybody,
I didn't expect so many positive responses at such a short time. Thanks to you all and to GTO. I will try the measures suggested and get back.
              Thanks once again,
              Arun
