  • Achilles’ heel

    Hello.

I play to a 13 handicap. For years, my achilles’ heel has been my iron play. Specifically, hitting too far behind the ball resulting in "heavy/fat" shots (at times 2 to 3 inches of earth being removed). I will hit anywhere from 2 to 5 fat shots per round...seriously limiting my ability to score well. I would like to eliminate the fat shot and add some consistency to my game.

    Thanks.

    Re: Achilles’ heel

To start, I would put 100 practice shots in with your feet close together (not exactly touching, but maybe a foot width's appart).

This will do wonders for both balance, and consistancy.

Then when you get out to the course, imagine you have your feet close together when you actually have them appart at shoulder's width.
