Re: my first message
Hi Moorie and welcome.
A shank is a result of the hozzle striking the ball rather than the clubface. In my experience of shanking, and believe me, I had them for quite a while, I came to the conclusion that this was a result of not doing a full shoulder turn. This habit resulted in the clubface passing out the hands on the downswing which then encourages the hozzle to meet the ball rather than the square clubface. Work on the full shoulder turn and keep the hands in front of the club. I hope I have explained this in a simple fashion.

Swinging on an out to in path can cause shanks. keeping your weight towards your toes is another as is standing too close to the ball at address.
What ever is causing it here is a way to try and remove it. Get either a piece of say 4 x 2 wood or a cardboard box, place it an inch outside the ball, now hit the ball without striking the object. You will need to practice this for a few weeks but by trial and error you will know what to do to sort it.
