  • New Member Needs Help!

I AM A 12 HANDICAP GOLFER WHO RECENTLY HAD DREAMS OF HITTING SINGLE FIGURES. I WENT TO A INSTRUCTOR WHO GOT ME HITTING WITH A SHORTER BACK SWING, KEEPING MY LEFT ARM STRAIGHTER AND TURNING MY SHOULDERS MORE. GREAT! I CAN HIT MY IRONS ABOUT 10 YARDS LONGER, WITH A SLIGHT DRAW. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I NOW HAVE AN AWFUL HOOK ON MY DRIVES! NOTHING I DO SEEMS TO STRAIGHTEN IT. THEY START LEFT AND KEEP GOING!!

Sounds like the hands were used to flipping the face closed in your old swing, and that worked in your old swing, but now in the new swing all you have changed was the bigger shoulder turn and not addressed the hands.

So try this with your driver: hit the inside 1/4 of the ball and try to get your hands a bit further in front of you prior to impact.

This should square up the face, let the trailing hand not worry about flipping the face closed, infact, it will have a grand time trying to hang on that cupped feeling a bit longer thinking it needs to hit on the inside of the ball now, and you will see yet another 10 yards!

    Hope this helps.
