  • New Set Up and Swing

I noticed quite a bit of different opinions on the "new" Stack and Tilt set up and swing. I have tried it and can say that I have never struck the ball so cleanly as I have recently using somewhat of a modified version as described in Golf Digest. I concentrate on keeping most of my weight on the front foot and try to stay centered over the ball and just let things flow from there and it seems to work just fine. I'd be curious to get different opinions from other golfers out there who have experimented with this method.

I think there are many different ways to hit a golf ball. Some work better for some people. All depends on your body. If you buy into the same concepts that I buy into (two vs. one plane swings, stack & tilt vs. conventional) then you just have to find what works for you.

I buy into what Chuck Quinton speaks about on his site. Find a swing that is simple, so that when their are problems, they are simple to fix. To me, a one plane swing where my weight stays very even between both feet works. I incorporate that with Greg's RHD thoughts, and I have been pretty set. It was just a matter of setting up properly (the right forward bend and keep that angle).

As for the stack & tilt... I do not have a comfort level with leaving that much weight on my left side. My body just feels a bit "odd" there. However, I have changed over from having a big weight shift to having something more neutral. I focus more on coil than weight. I find this much simpler and don't feel like I am stranding weight on my left side.

Look at the pro results with the stack & tilt, they speak for themselves. Glad to hear you are having success with it. That's what matters most.
