  • slice with my woods only

hello guys.. new member here. Please help. I have a problem with my woods, causing me to take too many strokes during a round.
My driver, 3 & 5 wood and sometimes even my 7 wood are giving me a a big headache.
They tend to have a big left to right move on all of them. All have typically the same ball flight, start left of the target and curve back right. But at setup all I am trying to do is hit a straight shot down the fairway, with little or no side spin.
I am a good golfer low 80's on a good day, low 90's on a bad day. I obviously have no consistency with thses clubs, but only 6 months ago, my 5 wood was my go to club- straight down the middle.
Help a new member please- get me back to the low 80's.

    thanks

Re: slice with my woods only

Sounds like a classic pull slice caused by an out-to-in swing with an open clubface. Obviously the severity of the slice is determined by how out-to-in the swing is and how open the club face is at impact.

I had a similar problem lately and solved it by: 1) not aiming left to compensate, this only opens the shoulders more and leads to a bigger slice. 2) Being aware of letting the lower body start the swing and not trying for any extra distance using the arms/shoulders. 3) strengthening my grip a little (3 knuckles on left hand showing).

Swing easy as you impliment the changes and then once you have your desired ball flight back, go back to your normal speed.

    Hope this helps.

      Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I will try that out on the range, and hopefully i can get my desired flight back, I have been told by my playing partners it looks like an out to i swing - a bad habit i got a get out of.
