A group of lessons every time-I find consistency and concentration the most hard to achieve-I play off 18 h /c and at times I play well below-but at this moment in time everything has deserted me and my game is utter rubbish

It is hard to tell, but I almost belive that I am generating most of my speed on the upswing - well past the point of contact with the ball. As the speed stick shoots up - quite violently - I am maximizing my speed. This would go a long way to accounting for my lack of distance - as for my driver I am using a TaylorMade xd540 - 9.5 loft - I will be looking a a higher lofted driver in the future.

Your maximum speed should be as your clubface catches your hands - after that, your speed will decrease. As long as your hands stay ahead of your clubface, and you are swinging correctly, you should be accelerating.

Having recently had a birthday I think I have a perfect solution to this problem :

          Get Both

I had my mother and brothers buy me 5 golf lessons at a local club and then my wife and mother in law bought me a Taylor Made mid rescue No 2 16'

          Maybe I am spoilt

I have had maybe 6 lessons in my life (I'm 30), so I would probably take the club......one lesson wont help. If it was a whole load of lessons I would probably take them....

Well, that was the option - a GROUP of lessons, or a new club.

Is it 140 and you are making contact with the ball? My swing speed is in the 110-115 range. I am sure I could clock in the 130's but i would
                A) throw my back out
                b) break a club
c)hurt someone standing next to me
d)my playing partners would ask for a drug test

a 137 mph swing speed would absolutely crush the ball.

                  A 137 should crush a ball i swing from 90-100 and hit a pitch 135.
