    i think this topic is one for the Mythbusters team.

    i've read the entire thread and i think i'm now more confused than ever.

    My understanding was that clean groves helped grip the ball and as such added more spin.

    A milled face is obvious though, and i've seen what they do to a ball. They rip it to shreads and get an enourmous amount of spin in the process.

    But the soft cover on a golf ball is going to catch the groves on the clubface at impact which should help grab the ball and put more spin on it. I've seen the results myself on the balls i hit when i see lose skin and scuffs on the ball i've just hit clean. Isn't this why we are told to keep out groves clean.

    Like someone else said. both sides have valid arguements, there's no doubting that.

      boy its been along time since ive been here, but reading this makes me laugh. to the OP why dont ya tell everyone here how you came up with the idea of your break thru tool? i still have a bunch of emails from you on how your getting steel from china at a great price and quenching oil dirt cheap. you sure no how to copy people stuff to bad its not very good copies. do ya really think any one believes your testamonials of your other 2 accounts you made up? 7734 no. just to help promote your item im giving a deal to the first 10 people who want the 1st and original groove sharpener a chance to get one free yep free. just send me a message

        Blimey! didn't think selling a few groove sharpeners to make a bit of money while going through uni would cause such a big debate! Quite amusing.
