No worries DaveGord.Thank you very much for the time you have given me LP. I pretty much had it and your explanation simplified and confirmed it. I can see he is advocating this to maximise the flexibility, particularly in the tip. I just don't see it working practically over the full set, given the bores will be at all different depths with a little lead here and there. I think it would be a nightmare.
Speaking of different depths, when I cleaned out the bores, I came to a point where they seemed to be right as I had come to a narrower part, a kind of step an inch in. Fearing I would go to far I stopped there. Something just didn't look or weigh right. I got hold of a magnifying glass a could see the bottom was a different colour. So you guessed it ,lead. I cleaned it out with a drill and dremmel and found an extra .25" I also found it almost impossible to go too deep as the metal is so hard. So is that step to mark the minimum shaft depth allowed? One more, when using lead beads, I assume it is mixed with epoxy?
