  • video of my golf swing

    http://img190.imageshack.us/i/350g.mp4/

Well i've been working with a pro. I've sorted out a few things, but still have things I need to improve upon such as weight transfer and keeping my spine angle.

Anyway I'd like to know what you guys think. Any input is appreciated .

You have a very good golf swing and seem to keep a steady spine angle in the video. It is difficult to see your weight transfer from a down the line view, can you post a front on video?

Thanks, I still have a long way to go to be honest. When I slowed the video down I saw after impact I was literally on my toes which is clearly not correct. I will upload a front on video soon. I now have a proper camera so i'll be taking many videos, but thanks once again for your input Brian .

Very good swing. I usually check for spine angle by placing my cursor on the head and seeing if there is any movement, and in your case there is not.

You do appear to be somewhat tense and rigid. I would think a nice waggle of some sort would help you transition into the backswing. Perhaps your instructor may help you with that. I used to start without a waggle, stone cold and frozen over the ball waiting for undetermined time to feel comfortable in taking the club away. I developed a waggle conducive to my early wrist break swing. Two of those and that's the trigger.

Thanks, yeah I was feeling a bit tense partly due to the fact i've changed my swing quite a lot lately especially the takeaway so I have a lot of swing thoughts at the moment. I think a waggle would help and i'll have a go with that cheers.

Another down the line video of me hitting a 6 iron. Would do face on, but I can't with them bays and haven't had a chance to get down to my course range.

I think my position at the top could be better. I go a bit flat. I should of cocked my wrists better. However slowing it down I can see i've pulled the club on plane so I don't think it's a big problem, but does need addressing. Both shots were a fade which is slightly unusual for me. Slowing down the second swing just before impact I think i've kept my left wrist solid and not broken down. What do people think?

                  Yes, that works now:

You are casting the club from the top and creating an out to in swing path. This will be responsible for your fade and a power leak.

Your back swing is a 2 plane swing type where you lift the club above your shoulder plane. With this swing you must drop the club back down onto plane at the start of the downswing.

We watching the same vid? Looks to me like he's almost bolt upright at impact!

The slow motion stuff you do in your iron video gives away the source of your troubles. The mental picture of what you're trying to achieve is a little off, IMO.

You have a lot of wrist roll in the backswing which lays the club off too much. Also, strengthen your grip slightly. Clubface is a little weak at the top.

Your hips thrust forwards towards the ball right from the top which straightens up your spine and then you almost can't do anything else but cut the ball. There's no room for your hands and arms.

In short; stronger grip, stand the club up in the backswing rather than rolling the wrists, and start the downswing by moving your left hip back behind you as you begin to shift your weight. Sideways and forwards? No! Sideways and backwards? Yes!

The loss of your spine angle and the laid-off club with the open face = slice it city. Change all three and you'll be struggling not to draw it!

No, I dont think we are Neil. The post you quoted me was related to his original video, he keeps a good spine angle in that one. In his second and recent video he has a completely different swing where he throws the club from the top and loses his posture.

Well i did say I had a long way to go . Thanks guys, better get down that range again .

With regards to being off plane it's what i've been used too doing so I creep back into doing so. As for the casting I think I cast it more when I roll my wrists at half way and not cock them properly and this does take me off plane also.

As for trying to thrust them hips I thought the idea was to clear the hips. Maybe i'm taking it to extremes. I do straighten up quite a lot at impact and I think the same is for the first video, try slowing it down in quicktime. I don't get how I can straighten up but my head not lift so much...
So I lose my spine angle as my hips are too fast for my hands?

Yeah I saw the same thing hence my comment on my toes.

Why do you think I lose my spine angle?

Clearing the hips is all good mate. But thrusting them forward isn't clearing them. Clearing them is turning them and shifting them left.

Compare the screenshot I posted of you above to my avatar.

You can straighten your posture but keep your head position relatively stable by crunching your right side i.e. the gap between right hip and right shoulder gets smaller.
