    Re: AJ Truth about golf-really?

Yeah I dloaded them for evaluation purposes, and actually I have already deleted them from my HD after my last round.

It seems that I was able to "time" the homerun when I was at the range, but on an actual course it lead to alot of slices and pulls. What did I expect from informercial material??

Hitting on the range and missing on the course = a mental problem in your approach on the course. Probably trying to overswing or hit too hard. You can not blame that in the teacher, only operator error unfortunately.

[QUOTE=Matt10]honestly i thought the same thing, but when you try to keep the "buttons" facing you, you end up cocking your wrist at the end of the backswing, at least I do,basically I start my backswing at the top I cock my wrists towards me,so my hands don't go up they go side to side. I suggest trying it, i was amazed how much straighter my shots went, got rid of my slice pretty well.

Thanks for the screenshots Matt10 i tried this in front of a mirror with a cut down club and am hanging out to try it on the range tomorrow. Three other bonuses i noticed. It stops you from picking the club up to quick, helps with keeping your spine angle consistent and stops you from taking the club to far inside . I will post more findings once i hit some balls over the weekend

Yes, he does. I swear to God.

All I know is, what the guy claimed his videos would do for me happened. He said I'd drop 30% and gain 30 yards of the tee. It's probably been more than that.

Based on what I've seen, read, and heard, the videos contain a lot of explanation of the manner in which the club face must rotate through the impact zone. There is also some explanation of how to do this, notably the "remote control" illustration, which I've watched a number of times, but still can't really do. If the idea is that my right palm should be facing me at the top of my backswing...I can't do that and still hit the ball. I wouldn't consider buying the videos if I can't even make sense of one of the basic ideas in them.

the best way to understand the concept is without turning your body from your address position take the club back using the remote control concept. At the top the toe of your club will be facing at the wall or whatever is behind you. Once you are in this position turn your shoulders and you will find the toe of the club is in the perfect position. If this does not make sense grip the club as you normaly would then do a bicep curl with your right arm and see what happens. You should see the same result.

Take the club back where? If I simply bend my arms up until I'm holding the club vertically in front of me, the toe will be facing behind me, is that what you mean? But the buttons of the remote control won't be facing me.

Okay if I do a biceps curl then I turn my palm up and at the top it's facing me. But then the toe of the club would not be facing the wall behind me. It would be facing to my right, away from the target.

I don't know....the idea seems to be that I should have my right palm facing my head at the top of my backswing, rather than in the proverbial "waiter" position. It feels completely wrong to me and I can't hit the ball that way.

In my opinion , for what it's worth.

i got to view the c.ds today and they are an over hyped, over advertised and over priced scam.

Why pay the earth when you can get all the advice you need, FOR FREE , from GTO.

Peolple like this AJ fellow make me so angry becuase they feed on the needs of decent, hard working peolple who just want to improve their golf game. There are no overnight cures or remedies, just uderstanding your swing faults and working to overcome them through practice and hard work.
Plus , they undermine the great teachers of this world such as , LEADBETTER, HARMON , DENNIS PUGH, AND OUR OWN GREG J WILLIS. who have strived for years to teach this wonderful game to us all.

The truth about golf is that anyone can tell you how to do something, but the ability to put all the ingredients in the mix, in the right order and the right amount, can leave you with something no one would want to eat. I CAN TELL EVERYONE HOW TO DO A BACK FLIP AND 90% WILL FALL ON THEIR HEAD.

AJ is just waiting to sell u his next series out in 2007 The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth>
Most of the probem for people is too much info or not enough.. catch 22. Its like most sports u need to keep playing the game and be patient with the right balance of info and ability. Think Set up ,Target and swing. If your in the habit of trying a new move everytime you go out and expecting results instantly, just expect a lot of frustration and a large collection of videos from AJ and leadbetter etc, presenting the same info over and over but in slightly different styles.

Tapes not worth it in my opinion. His whole appraoch to "hitting the nail" and the "little home run" is based on great hand eye coordination to manipulate the clubhead. If my hand eye coordiantion was that good I wouldn't need his or anybodys tapes.

I purchased the video's and in my opinion it was a hundred bucks well spent. It also comes with a couple of extra vids, truth about the short game and the truth about putting. Although the putting vid didn't tell me anything new the short game vid was very helpful. It simplified the short game for me and game me the tools to improve which I did very quickly after watching and a little practice.

Everyone has their own opinion, this is just mine.

I've got these DVD's. I found the most interesting concept to be his explanation of hand/eye co-ordination, the fact you don't need a 'perfect' swing to play the game. This has given me confidence that i can 'fix' things as i go along.

the tunes he sings at the end are useful too, i often find myself humming them as i drive!

Todd, I've been reading your questions to some of the posts repeating AJ's visualisation of where the club/palm/remote should be. Most have given you some poor or too much info. I own a copy of the 'Truth' . One of the main points is how the club face is moving through the impact zone. (He never at any time says that the palm of the hand should face you.)
Here's my take on a simple level as it was intended by AJ. Do this slowly.
From address position, turn half way back so that the club is horizontal. The toe of the club is pointing up. ie open At this point you have not done anything with your wrists/grip/arms - all you have done is turned.
Return to address position - club is now square to target as it started.
Now turn to your left as if you were following through, stopping when the club is again horizontal. The toe of the club is pointing up again. ie closed.
So as the club head moves through impact, it is moving from open through square to closed. That rotation is one of AJ's 'truths' . He does put the concept across well . (It is a concept not a swing fix or lesson). I don't regret buying the Truth.
