New golfer (2nd year - haven't broken 100 yet). I'm in real good shape with my irons. But I slice my driver nearly every time. With some recent practice rounds, I've managed to turn my push slice into a pull slice. Is this progress?
Here is what I've done so far:
Ball placement: for driver is more forward, in line with front of front foot.
Set my feet: I was rolling my front front.
Stronger grip: It was already at least neutral.
Corrected arms/club angle: I was straight out - reaching.
Chin up: Making room for the front shoulder in backswing.
Hands: One of my last thoughts before my swing is "return left hand back to the address position - back of hand pointing towards target"
Swing: later wrist hinge at top of backswing. I was cocking them too quick.
Rythm: I'm probably a little too fast.
Swing-plane: The big unknown. I have no idea. Should I be flatter, more upright? My irons feel fairly upright and I hit them nicely.
So afterall these adjustments, I no longer push-slice and instead am pull-slicing. What else can I do to fix this slice?
Other details:
I'm swinging a Agams GT2. 10 degree. Regular flex/graphite. I'm a male, 6' 1", and average build. When I do hit it straight, I can hit my driver 240-260.
Also, have had 3 lessons. The last lesson was all with irons, and as long as I am consistent there, I'm golden. However, what I learned about swinging my irons hasn't seemed to translate over to my driver.
