    Re: Tour tempo

Sorry to bring up an old topic.

But I just got this today, and...wow. The book was well written, I had no idea that John lives in the same area as me (Overland Park, KS). Anyway, this is by far the smartest purchase I've made in a long time.

I started with the 21/7 and stayed with 21/7 during the entire practice. The driving range I was at didn't have markers, just colored flags, with no indication on yardage - but all I know is I hit the all better than I have all week. It's true, with a faster (not harder) swing, there is no oppurtunity for you to mess up. My only problem arose is on "through", because I wouldn't go through the ball - I would hit at it. This was easily fixed by keeping my eyes on a mark 3-4 inches in front of the ball.

I highly recommend this to everyone. Get it on Amazon and it's only about $16 for book and CD. I wanted next day delivery so it totaled to about $35.

        Re: Tour tempo

        hi all
in dave pelza books "short game and putting bible" he talks about the same thing in both the putting and short game, with the putter, the tick-tock tick-tock, is about 80 beats for him for the putter to move across his toes, if its a 2 foot putt or a 32 foot putt, the timing is the same but the speed that putter moves changes. its the same with wedge play too. when i started to time myself i found i was close to the 80 beats on all shots and that also works out as a 28/9, close to your 3/1, so i do think there is something in it. thanks for letting me know and i'll have a look at his book too.
        thank bill

Interesting Bill.. I like that tick-tock, tick-tock. Maybe I should swallow a clock. Actually, thinking about it, a watch might be easier to get down..

            Re: Tour tempo

When I got hooked into this game a 6 years ago...one of buddies loaned me an instruction video. All it had after basic stuff was videos of this texan(tall and lanky, tahst all I remember) swinging from all directions in the tune of 'One-and-Go'. It was amazing. When I loose tempo I get back to this and it helps me.

              Re: Tour tempo

Theres no doubt at all this is a great read which IMHO simply proves the concept that swinging the clubhead works. By forcing yourself to have a quicker tempo you eliminate all the overloaded swing thoughts your brain has and make a fluid swing through the ball. As Novosel himself (as well as other studies such as Model Golf) says 95% of mid-high hcpers have a backswing which is wayyy too slow. Quick and smooth and fluid is what you want

No other sport has all the head games that golf has. You dont see 100 books on the tennis or squash swing or how to hit a cricket ball. Your brain just makes it happen. By relaxing and swinging trough the ball at a good tempo with sound fundamentals the average player would hit the ball way better IMHO and this book is a great attempt to preach a method to make that happen

                Re: Tour tempo

                I bought it. $16 + $9 2 day shipping. With a $25 Amazon bonus coupon = 0 cost..

I'm through touting now.. I'm outta here..

Did try the faster swing today and it works. Just like pnearn says, no time to think about the swing and I zipped right through the it straight and true.

Seems like I'm always adjusting. One of these days maybe I'll get to settle on one swing and stay there for a while..

[quote=JohnP]I bought the book and CD's over a year ago - I have to admit that I only ever took it up the range once! - I just put the click tracks on an MP3 player, the book was ok-ish but you don't really need it, just look at their website and you will get the picture very quickly. /quote]
