Just a quick thought , A half second after impact with the ball there is absolutely nothing you can do to influence the ball, it's been influenced as much as its going to be.... So fall over, do a somersault, leap up and down if it goes straight. After the point of impact it just doesn't matter. Just for information I usually run about the tee yelling "Look at that baby fly" or "Wheres that bugger going"

Not true..who was that japanese player (wears a cowboy hat) a few years back in the Masters I think. Went to play a flop shot from greenside, hit, then flip his hands in the follow through..and, you guessed it, hit the ball again in the air...lol...that shot cost him, and the ball got influenced for sure. But I know what your saying, this just poped into my brain when I read your post.
I don't know who's avatar is more scary, ie, Aftford or Silas'
Now Silas,
Every now and then I have the same problem with my left foot. Sometimes it is due from slipping - so check your spriggs.
Secondly, I notice I also do it when I haven't finished well and hang back, ie, haven't fully transferred my weight.
Where is the weight on your left foot when you complete your follow through. It's suppose to be on the outer of the foot. When I don't finish properly my left foot twists around and the weight is on the ball of my foot.
NB: I have a lower back problem and at address I have my left foot pointing around about 11 o'clock as Go Navy suggested. This helps me finish. I do have problems with the follow through when I'm a bit sore.
