Re: Ratings on balls. What is your favourite ball and why?
I spent this year dedicated to the MaxFli Revolution Tour (now discontinued). Played it mostly for bite going into greens. Played a couple rounds a couple weeks ago, and was sucking it back, hard.
The last few mens' nights have been 2 man scrambles. I've been playing distance balls (Dunlop DDH) off the tee, and the Rev Tours into greens. However, on occasion I've forgotten to switch my ball, and hit the DDH's into greens. And have held them. My conclusion? I'll move away from spin balls (as they hurt me off the tee), and find a ball that either stuns or releases a couple feet on my home course (something with less spin - like a Srixon Soft Feel).

hi
i loved the ping two tone balls, they had good distance and were great for back spin on the greens, also were so good when you lined up your putts. dont know who made them for ping but wish they would made them again, the white and orange ones i liked best as you saw the strob afect even when the sun was bright and in your face.

Re: Ratings on balls. What is your favourite ball and why?
I'm asking because I've found that the harder, less spin balls are more effective from the tee. I'm having difficulty hitting the spin balls the same distances. The harder balls tend to not grip the greens as well but not that bad.
I've found the Nike Power Distance ball to be quite enjoyable. The distance is great and the grip on greens is not bad. I've enjoyed the Srixon soft feel as well, it gave me a nice balance between the tee and greens, but is lacking from the tee compared to the Nike Power Distance.
A lot of golfers seem to enjoy the Titleist ProV1, but they don't work for me. I seem to damage the ball to easily and then I have to change to a new ball.

Re: Ratings on balls. What is your favourite ball and why?
I've been playing the Maxfli Noodle for a while just because i liked the name. I think it's a good alround ball. Straight and long off the tee and quite soft around the greens. I can get it to stop on the greens but not suck it back like Lowpost. I so wish i could do that
What high spin balls do people recomend.
Re: Ratings on balls. What is your favourite ball and why?
BigdazUK.
I know that it looks spectacular when the ball spins back a lot, but I've read that most pros prefer a stop of the ball instead of a backspin. Tiger wrote an article this month that he was decreasing his backspin on the greens because its to difficult to control. Even the pros have no way to predict the amount of backspin they get and sometimes this may be more of a liability than a asset.
Just remember the high spin balls are shorter from the tee.

In a recent ConsumerReports article dedicated to golf balls, the Nike Power Distance Super Soft (the lime colored box) placed second in overall ranking, so no wonder you like it I'm thinking of getting a dozen myself and try them out.
Re: Ratings on balls. What is your favourite ball and why?
I have tried just about every ball on the market at some time and I guess its down to what the individual prefers.
I have settled on Pinnacle balls now, I like the red Distance ball in the winter and have been playing the blue Exception in the summer. The Exception has great feel and is good for driving. The red Distance is a little harder and works well in winter conditions. Both have very good surface layers that are resistant to scuffs and splits.
On a recent visit the the USA I purchased some of Pinnacles new CLR balls that have a see through outer layer, now these balls are awesome, great off the driver and with a fantastic feel on the greens. In my estimation they are unbeatable for the price. (I don't work for Pinnacle )

Otherwise, I mostly play Titleist NXT Tours.

Where did you read this ComsumerReport. Will love to have a look.

Re: Ratings on balls. What is your favourite ball and why?
I like the ProV1x.
It's low spinning so there's lots of distance but it's soft enough for feel. Too soft a ball (ProV1) and I spin it too much especially on drives and 3/4 pitches where I get ballooned drives and too much backspin on the green. Too hard, like a distance ball, and I can't get it to grip on the green. I'm not good enough judge of run to scamper the ball up to the green so I prefer to 'drop and stop'.
The other reason I like it is that it's great to putt with. With 40% of your shots on the green it makes sense to use a ball with gives you great distance judgement and I get that with the ProV1x.
The down side is that they they scuff up easily, especially with modern wedges. The only ball I've played which scuffed up more was the HX Tour which just got shredded even though it's probably the straightest ball I've ever played.

Yeah i tried some HX Tour's. They're straight and go for miles. Great Ball! They do cut up badly though. I don't see the point in paying £3 for a ball that you can only use for one round.
