I know I had previously posted about how AJ's methods was the way to go for me - I was without a doubt wrong. While it resulted in great contact, I noticed my distance was suffering by 5 to 10 yards. I plan on playing competively sometime soon, so that kind of loss in distance is not what I want.
My long game is hurting a bit, so I'm rebuilding my swing with the iron game. I'm currently about a 5 HCP, that is all mostly to do with my short-game. While I hit the ball crisp, I just don't get that penetrating ball-flight that I want.
Here are a few things I see wrong:
-Slight Swaying - I start my backswing with a shift to the left then back to the right, and pivot around my right post from there, but it still looks like a bit of a sway. I try to stay moving before I swing, so this move serves as an ignition in a way.
- Overswing - I used to be very armsy, so now I try not to use any arms in the backswing, this could promote some sort of overswing. I do remember to 'feel' like I'm stopping at parallel, which helps out greatly on contact.
- Right heel comes off the ground on the downswing.
- At impact it looks like my hands are a bit behind the imaginary ball. This could be a good reason why I'm not getting the ball flight I want and could be some scooping with the shorter irons.
If there's anything else, please, please let me know - thanks and I hope to post one of me on the driving range actually hitting some balls soon. Hopefully before the Kansas snow comes into town
