    Re: ladies golf

I really dont understand why cyc has decided that Wie is going to be a hall of famer. Whats is based on, hype?
It's based on the fact that she has already earned around 12 million U$ (or more) already through her backers, Nike and Sony.

I may be wrong but I think the odds are favorable that Wie will someday prove that she can win many tournaments and even majors.

      Re: ladies golf

      hi
i do agree with cyc that she can hit low rounds of golf and does have the basics there to be a great golfer. she is still only 18 and still has lots of time ahead but needs better management that she has had for the last 2 years.
i do belive she started to belive all the hype about her and her game went to hell and i think now she knows she has a lot of work to do. maybe having to go to Q-school could work out for the best in the long run.
      cheers

I think that my problem right there. She hasnt earned squat. She was given $12M without having to do anything on the course. Michael Jackon got $50M from Sony and he cant play golf for sh1t.

What are her career earnings so far from prizemoney like compared to Lorena's?

          Re: ladies golf

True, today's famous golf (and other sports) marquee players make far more money from sponsors/ads than from actual tournament winnings.

I may be wrong but the potential is there for Wie. If she shapes up (and she has plenty of time to do so) then she can win more.

mary seaton beat mary stuart at musselburgh and mary stuart gave seaton a neckless as a reward for her fine play and a record of the neckles was at seaton house till it burnt down.
in the 1700s the game of gouf was baned in scotland as it stopped people from there archery and was not aloud till the mid 1500.
the name golf did not mean Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden as it was gouf till the mid 1700 and the word gouf ment to cuff or strike and thats what the old goufers did cuff the ball with there sticks and staffs.
king james 1V of scotland spent 14 shilling in 1502 for gouf clubs made by the bowmakers of johnestoun and it it is said he player at scone palace. he is the first reported sale of a full set of clubs and balls.
the first recorded game was mary seatons win over mary stuart in 1567, so ladies golf goes back a long way.

Wow this is interesting, I am a genealogist and I just found I am related to Mary Seaton, not directly of course as she had no children but through her brother. In any case I now have some serious bragging rights, thank you.
