    Re: Casting / Early Release

    Jambalaya & Shootin4par:

Thanks to you both for your insight. I do tense up at times and and I'm sure that's not helping me in terms of staying loose, or in terms of making a smooth and correct shoulder turn.

    Martin:

Thanks also for your thoughts. I'm sure you're also correct. The best golf
I've played is when I've just gone out, relaxed, and had fun. The more
my problems (and the myriad of solutions) are on my mind, the worse I do.

I preach the concept of focusing on what 'to do' and not what 'not to do' to my kids all the time but it would appear I've not been practicing what I preach. I'm playing tomorrow and I'm going to relax and stick with a few positive swing thoughts and not let so much negativity interfere.

    Thanks to you all.

I thought the "O" factor quite a good way of understanding the use of the hips and the way that pulls the right shoulder and arms into the slot. You are correct stating that with top players at impact their lower body is closer to the target than the upper. To achieve this you must keep your head behind the ball even though your hips are further rotated and forward from that at address. Ben Hogan was teaching us this move fifty years ago and it still stands as true today as then.
I like the link to the o factor could be very helpful for me. The illustration using the head of the club in the hand helped visualize the different paths the club can take. Can't wait to test on the range.
