Thanks Ted for your advice. Much appreciated.

By watching the tape of the use of the Medicus driver I had come to he conclusion that the break may have been too excessive.
However your endorsement of same is all I needed not to purchase it.
    Thanks again

I have been following this thread and there is alot to it. It seems like the way to go for me. What I want to know is what are the main differences between Sam Stinggers and Andy Browns versions, Browns adds are full of "the secrets the pros don't want you to know''. I am afraid that allways rings alarm bells for me.

GOLFSHOOTER, I do not know about Andy Brown"s or Sam"s verson, just go to the bookstore or order 4 mm in golf by Joe Dante then you will have the real deal.

Ah yes Andy Brown is the dude form St Andrews who has managed to set himself up as a swing guru by leeching off the 4MM.

He's also the man whose videos make pulling your own eye balls out with needle-nose pliers seem fun. His on-screen presence is like "Ken on the Course" without the charisma.

I'm sure he's a lovely fella, though. I'm typing this in a particularly synical, bitter and foul mood, with more than a hint of humour. But his video's did bore me off. And it's all in the original script.

            Hi all,

This is my first post, I would like to revive this thread by first off thanking all who participated, it has been a very insightful read.

Here is my story; I am a young decently athletic man (tennis, soccer, hockey, swimming) who took up golf seriously last summer. I started playing last year with two other rookies, who I always ended up beating by 5 to 20 strokes. We joined a course this summer and decided to take some lessons. To my surprise, I was told that my swing needed some serious work, and that my two friends (that I always beat) only needed some fine tunings to break 80. He said I have an over the top/hands only swing, I felt like I just found out the love of my life had been cheating on me, with my best friends!

The pro told me to fix my grip and posture, and to concentrate on a smooth 3/4 swing. I went to the range 3-4 times trying this out and witnessed the worst display of golf I have ever mustered. Depressed and demoralized, I started to do some internet research which led me to Andy Brown's/Joe Dante's 4MM. First off, I am very wary of these type of e-book “webmercials” that claim to be THE answer, nonetheless I studied and decided to apply it. A 7-iron and one bucket later, I was hitting solid shots down the middle, and for the first time of my life feeling my weight move through the ball, feeling the ball compress. It seems to lock my backswing in the correct out-in position, and permit me to use my weight to hit the ball as it should be. Next day, tried the 5 wood, same results: long and solid.

            My questions to you:
1- My second lesson is next week, I assume the pro will ask me where I got this early wrist break and will most likely discourage me from using it. Is the 4MM swing just another band-aid solution that will prevent me from reaching full potential? Or can I adopt it as my swing and just roll with it?

2- Has anybody been using the 4MM swing for some time and still getting good consistent results? Or does it lead to an inevitable plateau?

3- Should I maybe stop taking the lessons and strictly work with the 4MM material? Paying 1$/minute for some guy to tell me that I suck compared to people I have always beaten doesn’t seem to me as that fruitful of an investment...

            Many thanks!

Just wanted to revive this old thread. Anyone out there still using 4MM? Really struggling this season and decided to try it again.

It's a darn good thread to revive. Yeah, I'm working on it too. 4mm makes a lot of sense.
It's not much different than Shawn Humphries "Two Steps to a Perfect Golf Swing" or Adam Scott's swing where he presets the club and concentrates on shifting his weight left on the downswing. Adam's near the top of the British Open this weekend so I don't think you guys can go too far wrong or, in other words, you're not wasting your time. Let's keep in touch as to how it's working.

Used the method today. Unable to hit the driver decently. Chipping and pitching were excellent, short irons good, mid irons so so. Need more time to practice the method. Finding it difficult to shift the weight left as Dante wants. Wish there was an instructor around who taught this method.

I wouldn't worry about the weight shift right now providing you're taking a full shoulder turn with your driver and a partial turn on the irons; and then push, slightly to start, off your right foot on the downswing. The weight shift should just happen by itself-one less thing to think about. (Make sure your shoulders and not the tips of your toes are parallel to the target line.) Try it ; it may just work for you.
Went out yesterday, tried the 4mm and didn't do that well either. Tried a few radical moves that seemed to work-got to try them again before spewing out any bad golf swing advice.
                    Keep swinging!

                    • I just came across this thread and decided to join.. by coincidence I heard someone talking about "4 magic moves" at the club last weekend, they were raving about it. Might have to take a look - any success stories with it from GTO members?
