    Re: dead right

Well, if they're straight for 20-50 yards, then make a right turn, then you're hitting the ball straight, but with the clubface held open.

I've hit a few of these towards the end of last season. The other thing it can indicate is overpowering the shaft. Try relaxing your hands throughout your swing, and see if it doesn't go away.

i had same problem until i relaxed, swung easier, and made sure my grip wasnt too tight

now i have a little left to right movement but it ends up where i pointed the clubface at setup

Okay - easy to solve this one.

The straight right start means you're approaching and striking the ball from the inside. That's fine ... an inside approach to impact is what we're looking for. It may be too far from the inside but we can sort that out later.

The 'darting right' is the side spin caused by an open club face. This is the problem we'll solve first. The difference between a nice draw and a slice is club face angle at impact and literally a few degrees is all it takes.

I haven't seen your swing so I don't know if there is a swing fault, so I'll assume that your swing mechanics are all fine. Without going into detailed lessons and drills and waste your time, focus initially on 'rolling over' at impact to close the club face.

If focussing on closing the club face doesn't straighten out the ball flight or turn into a draw, then we need to look at your impact alignment and swing.

Okay? If you don't get the push slice corrected, let me know. You're welcome to PM me or e-mail me.

I slice real bad, they go like 200 yards straight then do a left turn at 90º..

              Eastley,

That sounds like you have an outside-in swing path with an open clubface at impact.

                  Re: dead right

im a complete newby to golf but all the drills and advice from people on here really helped me i had the same problem but just practiced at the range constantly and found i had an open face at impact and was over swinging. i took abit of speed out of my swing used a couple of the drills and they worked great so listen to them lol they know wht they are talking about.

can someone answer me this i have a drive now which goes about 280-290 consistently (i know its short but i havnt being playing long)but right at the end of the drive before the ball hits the ground it takes a little curve right is that still a minor slice?

                  any help would be appreciated!

                  adz!

                    Re: dead right

If you're a beginner, I find it hard to believe you're hitting the ball almost 290 yards! Tiger woods hits 340 yards!

Are you sure you're measuring yards and not feet?

If you are hitting it that far and it's only curving a tiny bit at the end, you should be GIVING everyone advice not TAKING it!

yeah uh 280-290 purrty damn good, you must be in some good wind, who cares if you got a little curve statisitcs say today it is better to hit it far with little accuracy than short with accuracy

                      swing for the trees

I've hit a 300 yard drive into the wind before.

Anyway my dead right/slicing is about solved. Now I got dead left/hook

yeah i like playing in windy conditions, saturday it was gusting aroun 30 mph and it was some fun, shot a record low 77, i was aiming 100 feet right or left of the target and it would curve like crazy
