    Re: Best Driver?

I'm going to put in an entry here for the Ben Hogan C-S3 driver

Tried it with all the other brand names about twice its price, and it feels just as good.

      Re: Best Driver?

I tried the R7 and set the weights for a high draw which i usually hit naturaly. and it seemed to turn my draw into a fall blown fade?!?!? very confusing i returned it after playing with it for a week and instead bought a titliest 983k which i think even tho it is fairly old you rarely catch it poorly. Also i strongly recommend a stiff shaft with this

Which stiff shaft? How much tipping? What playing length? How far inserted?

        TIA

Everyone seems to be trying the Sasquatch. Can't afford to switch sticks every year though. I'm on a second-hand budget right now so maybe I'll see one next year.

            Re: Best Driver?

It'd be interesting to hear from people who have been upgrading their drivers regularly. Eg, from the TaylorMade R580 to the R580XD to the R5... Do you really get better feel, distances, etc with each model upgrade? How does the Sasquatch compare with the Ignite? You can keep switching to the latest model if you have the money I guess..

              Re: Best Driver?

Well I have an ignite which im struggling to hit for some reason, tried the sasquatch (only hit one ball with it ) and it when dead straight and far. Connection felt unusual, but pleasent. Sits up nicely behind the ball.

Re: Best Driver? TM R7 460

I just bought the Taylor Made R7 10.5 460CC stiff shaft very forgiving. I love it so far. Traded in my R5. No regrets yet

KZG GEMINI 395 (7.5 loft). if you get a chance to hit this club you'll never want any thing eles!! Have yet to hit the 460 GEMINI. Kzg does not make the 460 in a 7.5 degree.

                    Re: Best Driver?

The best driver is a Mizuno MP-001 TS 370CC 9.5* on a D5 swingweight with a Grafalloy Blue R shaft and a Golf Pride New Decade Multicompound grip.....oh wait thats just for me....

I have it from a reliable source (Titleists top tour rep) that the Callaway FT-3 is the best driver out there just now. Thats some statement for a competitor employee to make.

Golfsmiths Snake Eyes driver heads are all very very good but they are hard to get fitted perfectly for, takes a lot of experimentation.

                      Re: Best Driver?

Im possibly not the best person to comment on this because i am only a 20 handicap but ive tested many drivers, all the major ones nike sq, talor made, (etc) and ive found that the Ping g5 is the best for me. As with my G5 irons the driver has an excellent feel and has enable me to improve from an average drive of 200-225 to 250-275. Since i have been using it my handicap has dropped from 24-18 in 2 rounds.

I would goto walmart and pick something up. Why spend a bunch of money on a club that you will hit poorly. save the money and get lessons

DRIVER MODELS: the ratings are based on responders’ satisfaction with their present and previous drivers, as well as the length of time owned and number of days played.

                          Scratch to 10 handicap golfers
                          1. Ping G5
                          2. Titleist 905S
                          3. Callaway BB Fusion FT3
                          4. Cleveland Launcher 460
                          5. TaylorMade R7

                          11 to 20 Handicap range
                          1. Ping G5
                          2. Cobra 400 SZ
                          3. KZG Gemini
                          4. Ping G2
                          5. TaylorMade R5

I just tried out the G5, love it. It sounds good, it looks good, it hits long, straight & flies for 6-7 seconds.
R5 was nice but sounded ugly, Nickent sounded the same as the R5.

Thanks for the info. I may just keep the Ping.

Any other suggestions for a possible fit?
My handicap is somewhere in the 15 range, I was on a launch monitor today and my swing is around 105-110mph, it says I'm cracking it about 260yards, pretty straight
                          Using a stiff 65gram

I love the new titleist 905R driver. It has 460cc head and is alot more forgiving than most would think. I have only owned three drivers my entire life. The titleist 985D, titleist983K and now this one. The 905R is truly a wonderful stick. Give it a try if you get the chance.

                                Hi Cosmo,

I just test drove the 905R, Speeder shaft, 9.5
                                Wooooot!!!!!!!
                                It goes man!!!!!!!

The Ping G5 sure feels nice, but when I connect with this puppy, it goes so far, I couldn't see it stop rolling.
The range I was hitting at has a 250 sign, I was carrying that no probs.

                                Do you'all think a G5, 9.5 will go as far as the 905R, 9.5?
I am test driving a G5, 10.5, Aldila 65-S, it goes alot higher than the 905R.
Seems alot of energy is spent on getting it up rather than getting it far.
