Re: Adding distance?
One thing that i have just recalled to memory is when i purchased AJ Bonars 'The truth about golf' and it insisted that the main difference between amateurs and pros was not only swing speed but also another aspect in the swing. This involves opening and closing the clubface before and after impact which idealy adds extra power to shots. Any pros here who know about this mystery?
I tried it for a while and the results were ok. Yes the ball was traveling 10 to 15 yards further on my drive yet it for some reason over complicated my swing and i found that i would hit 1 scourching 260 yard drive and then the next would be either a 250 yard hook or slice which really does not help as we all know especially at my club which has tight narrow fairways and beyond 2 1/2 ft deep rough.
I asked my teaching pro when i had a lesson and he said although it is true and will gain you extra valuble yards it is simply not worth the risk!
What do people think of this technique?
