  • Left pinky

I am new to golf at 53. Been playing 5 weeks and things seem to be going ok until I woke this moring with a sore left pinky, and played golf 2 days before. While opening the closed fist my pinky sticks then opens. Is this trigger finger. Also I am using my dads 45 year old wilson staff clubs. Please advise.

    Re: Left pinky

For those that may have read my post, it turns out that my orthopedic doctor said trigger finger was not a golf injury. It is when the finger will not open on its own after making a fist. He injected my pinky with cortisone and said I could golf in a few days.

Sounds to me that you are just gripping the club too tight with thright hand too severe on the pinky. When gripping, always put the emphasis on the left hand. The right is really only for support.

        Thank you for the reply,

The trigger finger injury occured on the left had pinky. I tried holding the club lighter but there was movement in the club in my left hand. I heard the club should be held no thigher than holding a live bird.

Hi, I have the same problem but with both of my pinky's. Also new to the great game of golf at 37. After going to the driving range every second day I think I over exerted myself and brought on the same problem...now typing without my pinky's! So, can I ask you of this problem went away without any further treatment, as it has been over a week for me now....I live in Australia where medical is free and I don't like wasting tax payers money getting unnecessary medical check ups. Any way it will make a great story when sitting around with friends talking about battle wounds...poor little pinky's. Thanks, Clinton
